So, since the node was born on June 19th, I have routed a total of 144 Tx with a total value of aprox 16Msats, through aprox 55% of the channels opened to the node (inbound and outbound). Most of the activity started to happen like 2 weeks ago, but the node routed it first Tx already on June 20th, so in the first 24h.
Based on the potential fees gained from routing transactions, the node could fully pay for itself in well under a year. Considering running a node cost let's say $5pm and cost of hardware is $150 you get your ROI back in 4 months and you make 400% in profit per month goin forward. You can create a Lightning Network node to support the network and you cannot profit from it. The returns may be insufficient to pay the electricity bill, but you can gain enough experience and expertise regarding the technology.
